What does the Trade Compliance Map do?
It takes an ITC-HS code plus an origin and destination country and returns the compliance picture for that specific trade lane: destination import duty treatment, mandatory certificates and registrations, prohibited or restricted status, labelling requirements, and Indian-side export policy including RoDTEP and SCOMET.
Why does the destination country matter so much?
The same product can be freely exportable from India and blocked at the destination. Requirements like US FDA prior notice, EU health certificates, UAE ESMA registration or Japanese quarantine rules are set by the importing country and vary by product and origin. A tool that only looks at Indian rules tells you half the story.
Is this a substitute for a customs broker?
No. It is a fast first pass so you know what to ask and what to prepare. Requirements change by notification and the assessing officer at destination has final say. Confirm with your CHA and your buyer's broker before shipping.
What is SCOMET?
SCOMET is India's list of Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment and Technologies — dual-use goods that require a specific export authorisation from DGFT. Shipping a SCOMET item without authorisation is a serious offence, so the check runs on every lookup.
