A wrong HS code is expensive

Misclassification means reassessment, demurrage while the container sits, penalty, and a drawback or RoDTEP claim that quietly fails months later.

Quotes get built in the dark

Most exporters price FOB from memory and discover the real margin after the bank charges, freight and insurance land. By then the contract is signed.

Landed cost hides its worst half

IGST comes back as credit. Basic duty, AIDC, cess and surcharge never do. Sheets that lump them together overstate your true cost and mislead your pricing.

Live exchange rates

Live

European Central Bank reference rates, refreshed automatically and wired into both calculators. Set your bank's spread once and buying and selling rates fill themselves.

For customs valuation, use the CBIC notified rate — not the market rate. The import calculator keeps that field separate for exactly this reason.

Automatic export policy status against ITC-HS Schedule 2 — free, restricted, prohibited or STE. Licence and authorisation requirements surfaced before you commit to a buyer, plus the certificate set each destination expects.

Buyer & supplier risk

Coming soon

Country risk scoring with FATF grey and black list enforcement, counterparty credibility checks, and a payment-terms recommendation — so a high-risk destination automatically triggers 100% advance rather than an argument three weeks later.

Common questions

What is an ITC-HS code?

ITC-HS is the Indian Trade Clarification based on the Harmonised System. It extends the international 6-digit HS code to 8 digits for Indian customs. Every shipping bill and bill of entry filed in India must carry the correct 8-digit ITC-HS code.

How is landed cost calculated for imports into India?

Assessable value is derived from CIF. Basic Customs Duty applies to the assessable value, AIDC and Customs Health Cess are added, then Social Welfare Surcharge is charged on the aggregate customs duty. IGST is charged on assessable value plus all duties. Landed cost is assessable value plus total duty plus clearance and transport.

Is IGST paid on imports recoverable?

Yes. IGST paid at import is available as input tax credit to a GST-registered importer. Basic Customs Duty, AIDC, cess and Social Welfare Surcharge are not creditable and are absorbed permanently into product cost. The calculator separates the two so your pricing reflects real cost.

What is the difference between FOB, CFR and CIF?

FOB covers all costs to place the goods on board at the port of loading. CFR adds ocean or air freight to the destination port. CIF adds marine insurance on top of CFR.

Can I rely on this for filing?

No. Treat every figure as an indicative working number. Classification is generated by an AI model and duty rates change by notification. Verify on DGFT and ICEGATE, and confirm with your CHA before filing.

Indicative figures only ExportIQ produces working numbers, not customs or legal advice. Classification output is generated by an AI model and must be verified against the live ITC-HS schedule on DGFT and ICEGATE before it appears on a shipping bill, bill of entry or commercial invoice. Duty and GST rates change by notification and vary with country of origin, trade agreement and exemption. Final assessment rests with the proper officer of Customs.
